"A sense of humor, and sharing that humor, is an important part of this life-style; and it is also a great stress-reliever. See the section entitled "A Bit Of Whimsey" in our medical web-site (www.asthma-drsprecace.com) to help attack girth with mirth"

The Mediterranean mind and life-style do much to enhance the benefits of these sensible eating habits. Here we deal in genuine emotions, deep family bonds and showing the best face to the world. Work is necessary; but so is a siesta after a good meal. Popular proverbs give us an insight into the attitudes which define this world. "To show hospitality is to share in the bouquet of the angels." "Oil makes everything shine: faces, fruits and furniture." "Everything in its own time." " Moderation in all things." Here is a natural way of living...always remembering: "Che sara, sara."

The closer a family is, the more traditions it is likely to have. Yes, the rituals of a family are central to a family's well-being. For example, our Italian Christmas traditions have been with us for centuries. They celebrate the joy of home, of family and of unconditional love. To mention only a few of these traditions, so vivid in our memories: the Christmas presepio (the nativity scene); Christmas Eve dinner with the seven fish dishes; Christmas Midnight Mass; the great Christmas dinner that always ended with panetone, torrone and roasted chestnuts.... Why are these rituals important until the day we die? Simply because they reinforce family identity and give each and every member of the family a shared and necessary sense of belonging. Have our young people lost this element in their lives? I leave you with this question and I ask each of you to reinforce, insofar as possible, our family traditions.
