Mediterranean Life-Style: For any age...and for the ages
Why does the Mediterranean Diet work? Because it is not a diet. It's a way of life. Beginning with the fruits of the land - vegetables, fruits and delicious nuts. All enhanced with golden olive oil. Partnered with the vegetables and fruits are the hearty pastas and rich tomato sauces. Some fish, chicken and a little red meat round out the menus. A variety of nuts, dates and figs enhance the delicious desserts. As the family gathers in midday, a hearty meal is enjoyed with a little wine and much good conversation. A short rest period afterwards prepares all for the rest of the day. In America, this meal is enjoyed in the evening after work. It should not be missed. Proverbs give us a glimpse of the attitudes which form the Mediterraneal psyche.
